Hi @musikci,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the ink cartridges in your printer are installed backwards and you’re having trouble removing them, here are some steps you can try:
Step 1: Power Off the Printer
- Turn Off the Printer:
- Switch off the printer and unplug it from the power source to ensure safety while handling the cartridges.
Step 2: Access the Cartridges
- Open the Printer Cover:
- Open the printer's access door or cover to expose the cartridges.
Step 3: Release the Cartridges
- Locate the Cartridge Release Mechanism:
- Most printers have a tab or latch that you can press to release the cartridge.
- Look for any clips or tabs that hold the cartridges in place.
Step 4: Gently Remove the Cartridges
Try Pulling Gently:
- If the cartridges won’t budge, gently wiggle them while pulling straight out. Be careful not to apply too much force, as this might damage the printer or cartridges.
Use a Tool for Leverage:
- If needed, you can use a plastic tool (like a spudger or similar) to carefully pry the cartridge out, ensuring you don’t damage the printer components.
Step 5: Reinstall the Cartridges Correctly
- Check Orientation:
- Make sure to align the cartridges with the correct orientation. Usually, there are arrows or color codes to guide you.
- Push Down Firmly:
- Once aligned, press the cartridge down until it clicks into place.
Step 6: Test the Printer
- Power On the Printer:
- Plug the printer back in and power it on. Check if the printer recognizes the cartridges correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
