Printer envy 6458e using windows 10 ( 32 or 64 bt ?) on desk top PC. Was able to scan to pc and print from pc documents maybe 5 times wirelessly. Just installed yesterday new. Now when first turned on I get the paper tray area lighting up Green, then pulses green and then makes a bit of noise and turns white permanently with key pad flashing different colors and E 9 flashing. After a minute or two the key pad no longer lights and the printer will still no longer print or scan but the paper tray light stays white. Yes, I've tried finding out E 9 code and color codes on HP website without any luck and continue to go in circles. Thanks, Wally

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand you are not able to use the printer. An E9 error occurs when a problem occurs during a printer firmware update.

Set up the wireless setup again.
For more information, go to Wireless Printer Setup.

Touch the Information button
.
If the information page prints, the printer is back to normal state.
If the printer fails to print the Information page, it is still in recovery mode and needs to download the firmware again.
NOTE: During recovery mode, the printer automatically downloads firmware from the cloud. Leave the printer about 2 hours, depending on your network speed, to complete firmware download and update.

Hi,
I have download the software twice. I get the error cod E9. Your solution is to wait 2 hours for the fix to be downloaded. I have never had so many problems setting up a printer. Why you think it is acceptable to have a 2 hour download time for a fix? How will I know the download is complete? What do I do if the download doesn't work? Everything on my computer is up to date, but HP can't have software to work with the latest MacOS software. Why? What is the point of the set up process if the printer does not get set up properly so you can start printing? The set up time for your printer has been hours and it still doesn't work. I need solutions, not sit and wait. The HP printer I am replacing never had these problems.
