@agomez012, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer is not recognizing the USB cable and shows as offline. Let's go through a few steps to resolve this:

Check USB Connection

  1. Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.
  2. Try using a different USB port on your computer.
  3. If possible, test with a different USB cable to rule out cable issues.

Restart Devices

  1. Turn off the printer and your computer.
  2. Wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn them back on and reconnect the USB cable.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

Corrupted or outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues.

  1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer.
  2. Go to the official HP support page: Official HP® Support
  3. Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver for your operating system.
  4. During installation, connect the USB cable only when prompted.

Set Printer as Default & Check Status

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer > Set as default printer.
  3. Ensure the status is Ready and not Offline.
    • If it shows "Offline", right-click > See what's printing > Printer > Uncheck Use Printer Offline

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
