Hello @curry30, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Deskjet 2300 Series.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

Perform a Physical Hard Reset:

  • Turn on the printer (if not already on).
  • Wait until the printer becomes idle and silent.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still on.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Check for Hidden Paper Jams / Physical Errors:

  • If the Resume light is blinking, it indicates a jam or internal error.
  • Input Tray:
    • Remove any stuck paper carefully using both hands to avoid tearing.
  • Inspect Internal Path:
    • Tilt the printer back and check for small paper bits or debris.
  • Press the Resume button to attempt automatic error clearing.

Check Printer Connections:

  • Connect the USB cable directly to the computer (avoid USB hubs).
  • Try a different USB cable to rule out cable issues.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
