Hi @mcattack1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0x6100004a is a general printer failure message, often related to hardware or system issues within the printer. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Check for Paper Jams
- Open the printer's access doors and check for any paper jams, torn paper, or debris.
- Remove any stuck paper carefully.
- Ensure the paper feed and rollers are clear and moving freely.
Reset the Printer System
- Disconnect the power cord and any other cables (USB/Ethernet).
- While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the cables and turn on the printer.
Update the Printer Firmware
- Go to HP's Support website.
- Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware updates.
- Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
Clean the Ink Cartridges and Printhead
- Open the printer access door and remove the ink cartridges.
- Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and printhead with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinsert the cartridges and close the access door.
Perform a Factory Reset
- If your printer supports it, access the Settings menu on the control panel.
- Look for Restore Defaults or Factory Reset and follow the prompts to reset the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
