Hi @mcattack1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x6100004a is a general printer failure message, often related to hardware or system issues within the printer. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer's access doors and check for any paper jams, torn paper, or debris.
  • Remove any stuck paper carefully.
  • Ensure the paper feed and rollers are clear and moving freely.

Reset the Printer System

  • Disconnect the power cord and any other cables (USB/Ethernet).
  • While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the cables and turn on the printer.

Update the Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP's Support website.
  • Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware updates.
  • Follow the instructions to install the firmware.

Clean the Ink Cartridges and Printhead

  • Open the printer access door and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and printhead with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges and close the access door.

Perform a Factory Reset

  • If your printer supports it, access the Settings menu on the control panel.
  • Look for Restore Defaults or Factory Reset and follow the prompts to reset the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
