HP Office Jet 8600Plus will not print after installing new HP cyan cartridge. Printer is old and out of support, but had been working great for all of these years since I bought it. I Have powered off and on several times, and disconnected power. But get the same error code....Same problem..every time. I am stalled! Any suggestions please??

Hi @Mikey38MSM,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand that your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus stopped printing immediately after you installed a new HP cyan cartridge and that you have already powered the printer off/on and disconnected the power, but the same error continues to appear.
Since you have already performed the power reset, let's narrow down the cause without repeating those steps.
Could you please confirm:
What is the exact error message or error code shown on the printer?
Does the message specifically mention the cyan cartridge or the ink system?
What is the cartridge number of the new cyan cartridge (for example, 951/951XL)?
Is the new cartridge a genuine HP cartridge, and did the printer work normally with the previous cyan cartridge before you replaced it?
Meanwhile, please refer to the following link to troubleshoot the issue.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_10902779-10902849-16
Once you provide the exact error code/message and cartridge number, we can determine the appropriate next step.
Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

HI Kuroi - thank you for your response and help - very kind of you.
Yes, I have some answers to your questions:
1. What is the exact error message or error code shown on the printer?
"there is a problem with the printer of ink system. turn printer off. then on. if problem persists, contact HP"
2. Does the message specifically mention the cyan cartridge or the ink system?
yes - it references the ink system. it had come up with "replace cyan cartridge" when it was out of blue ink.
3. What is the cartridge number of the new cyan cartridge (for example, 951/951XL)? Is the new cartridge a genuine HP cartridge, and did the printer work normally with the previous cyan cartridge before you replaced it?
yes, it is a genuine HP 951 new cartridge. I have always used genuine HP cartridges (despite their high cost) to avoid potential printer issues. The printer worked up until the last page printed, when it gave me the prompt to "replace the cyan cartridge". Which I did, with a new HP cartridge...and then i got the warning above, and cycled through several power off/unplug/ power on cycles to correct it.

Hi @Mikey38MSM,
Thank you for confirming those details.
Since you have already completed the power resets, please try the following:
Turn the printer on and open the cartridge access door.
Check the carriage path carefully for any paper, labels, or other debris.
Make sure the carriage can move freely from side to side. Do not force it if it is stuck.
Close the access door and turn the printer back on.
Check whether the same ink-system error returns.
It's recommended to check the carriage path before proceeding to service if the failure continues.
If the error remains after this check, please let me know whether the printer allows you to access the cartridge area normally and whether the carriage moves freely.
Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

Thank you for your help, Kuroi.
Yes I was able to check the carriage path, watched it move freely from right to left, and saw no obstruction in the path.
I get the same error on the front panel: "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP".
Please let me know what to do next.

Thanks for the video.
No leaking from any cartridge. However, I did see and clean up some spillage in the printer head well areas under each color print head.
BUT - same error message after power off/ unplug several times after cleaning.
HELP!!!
