getting a message saying printer in error. reports say all is well but still will not print

We totally get the head-scratching confusion – it’s like your printer is sending out mixed signals, saying "error!" while simultaneously winking and saying "all good!" 😉 But don't fret, intrepid printer whisperer! We've assembled a crack team of troubleshooting steps to decode this error enigma and get your DeskJet 4155e back to its printing prowess! Let's investigate these possibilities together:
If your HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer is showing a "Printer in Error" message despite reports saying everything is fine, try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Basic Checks

  • Ensure the printer is powered ON and properly connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Check for any error lights or messages on the printer display.
  • Restart both the printer and computer.

2. Run the Windows Printer Troubleshooter

  1. Press Win + R, type ms-settings:troubleshoot, and press Enter.
  2. Click Additional troubleshooters (or "Other troubleshooters" in newer versions).
  3. Select Printer > Run the troubleshooter.

3. Check the Print Queue

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP DeskJet 4155e and select See what's printing.
  3. Click Printer (top menu) > Cancel All Documents.
  4. Restart the Print Spooler:
    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

  1. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).

5. Check HP Smart App

  • If needed, reinstall HP Smart and add the printer again.

6. Try Printing a Test Page

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties.
  3. Go to the General tab and click Print Test Page.
