My machine is not printing and making copies correctly..

When I first got the printer, an HP 170 series, it worked fine. it printed and made copies as expected. However, recently it has been printing pages weirdly. The printer is printing double images on the page.

Not sure if there is an issue with the cartridges or with the rollers. or any hardware issues or an issue with my settings.

Is there a way I can fix it?

Hi @Sk300

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP printer, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

To fix the double image printing on your HP Color Laser MFP 170, follow these steps:

  1. Check toner cartridges: Make sure the cartridges are properly installed and not leaking. Replace if defective.
  2. Clean components: Clean the drum and fuser inside the printer, as toner buildup can cause ghosting.
  3. Check paper: Use standard plain paper. Avoid thick or coated paper that might cause issues.
  4. Adjust print settings: Ensure duplex printing (double-sided) is turned off if not needed.
  5. Run diagnostics: Use the HP Smart app to run a printer test and identify any errors.
  6. Inspect fuser: If the fuser is worn, it can cause print issues. Replace it if necessary.
  7. Update software: Ensure your printer’s drivers and firmware are up to date.
  8. Reset printer: Power off, unplug for 1 minute, and restart.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
