Some of the following are undoubtedly duplicates what you have tried,

Other options may not apply to your situation.

Read / consider / try / reject the following:

Product introduced August 2017

'Out of Paper' Displays, Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper

For example, check / clean the paper tray rollers under the printer (Steps 2-3)

Duplex does not apply to "photo printing", of course.  While you have the printer open, consider cleaning the duplexing rollers (Step 4).

Step 5 is a simple printer reset - if the printer hardware is "confused", this may clear any "misunderstanding".

Remove the paper from the little tray, flex very slightly, return the paper to the tray.  Re-adjust the guide bars that hold the paper.

Photo tray may only support the smaller 4x6 inch paper - if your paper is other than the 4x6 inch photo paper,

Remove the regular paper from the larger tray,

Load your photo paper,

Check the printer control panel > "check / modify / change" the paper size settings (wording varies)

User Guide - Page 15

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

On the printer control panel, Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

Set the Preferences - Windows

  1. The following assumes the Full Feature Software has been installed.
  2. Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”
  3. Select and adjust settings in each category for the Media (kind of paper), source (tray), and paper size.

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Set as Default

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences >

Tab Printing Shortcuts > Click / Highlight preferred shortcut > Click Apply > Click OK to exit

If the printer software supports the feature, change the settings as desired, then use “Save as” to create a Custom Shortcut.

OR

Windows key + S (search for) Printers and Scanners

Left-Click on (your) Printer > Manage >

Printing Preferences

Select a shortcut and / or set “preferred settings” for paper, source (tray), other settings

Optional (if / as available): Save As > enter a name for your custom shortcut

Click OK to save the preferences

Try different paper, if you can do so.  Not often, paper can be too damp, too dry, curled, or otherwise unsuitable.

Although likely done, consider updating the Firmware

READ any available information before updating firmware.

The issue is not likely the ink system, though it is perhaps a good idea to print a test page and judge the results.

or

Printing Self-Test Pages

The issue is not likely the printer software, although it is possible.  Consider

Uninstall the printer software

Restart the computer and log in

Download-save-install the Full Feature Software

Restart the computer and log in

Thanks Dragon Fur.  Photo tray setting was 4x5 instead of 4x6.  A pity the machine is unable to notify this

You are welcome.

Glad it's fixed.

For those reading:

Printer Control Panel settings for paper size / type can (should) be changed / checked any time that paper is loaded into the tray(s).

"Nice to Know" - EWS

You can also reach at least some of the configuration and setting using the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

If the printer is on the network, use the IP address to open EWS.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
