Hi @Str8style,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When a "Save as" window appears instead of printing, it can often be due to a few settings or configurations that need to be adjusted. Here's how you can resolve this issue:
Check the Default Printer Setting
- Set the Printer as Default:
- Open the Control Panel on your computer.
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP printer and select Set as default printer.
- Confirm by checking if the printer icon has a green checkmark indicating it's the default.
Verify Printer Selection
- Ensure Correct Printer is Selected:
- When you choose to print, make sure your HP printer is selected in the print dialog box, not 'Print to PDF' or any other virtual printer.
Check Print Queue and Driver
-
Clear the Print Queue:
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Double-click on your HP printer to open the print queue window.
- Right-click on any pending print jobs and cancel them.
-
Verify the Printer Driver:
- Visit the HP Support website and ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer model.
- Download and install the correct drivers if necessary.
Adjust Application Settings
- Check Application Print Settings:
- Look into the application you are printing from and check its print settings.
- Ensure it isn't configured to print to a file or a specific format that triggers 'Save as' dialogs.
By following these steps, your HP printer should function correctly without prompting you to save a file instead of printing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a blissful day 😇
