@rjqueen, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Drawer Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer displays that the drawer is open but it isn't, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check Drawer Alignment:

  • Ensure the drawer is properly aligned and pushed all the way in. Slight misalignment can cause the printer to incorrectly detect the drawer as open.

Inspect Drawer Lock:

  • Verify that the locking mechanism on both sides of the drawer is properly engaged. Sometimes the locking levers might not be fully secured, causing detection issues.

Open and Close the Drawer:

  • Try opening the drawer completely and then closing it again. This can help to reset the drawer sensor and ensure it's properly detected.

Reset the Printer:

  • Power off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. This can often resolve minor software glitches related to sensor detections.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Check the drawer for any objects or debris that might be interfering with the sensor or locking mechanism.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
