Hi @silk0716,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP Envy printer refuses to print and shows a “Photo Tray is Blocked” error even when everything looks fine. It’s like trying to open a drawer that insists it’s stuck, even though you know it’s not.

Let’s walk through the steps to fix this issue gently and effectively.

Fix: “Photo Tray is Blocked” Error on HP Envy Printers

1. Reseat the Photo Tray Properly

This error often occurs when the photo tray isn’t aligned correctly.

  • Place the printer on a flat, stable surface.
  • Push in the output tray extender.
  • Pull out the input tray, but don’t remove it.
  • Remove the output tray completely.
  • Check that the photo tray guide tabs (grey) slide beneath the main tray guides (black) on both sides.
  • Gently adjust the photo tray so the tabs align and press them into position.
  • Reinstall the output tray and ensure it lines up with the input tray.

2. Try Printing Without the Output Tray

If the error persists:

  • Remove the output tray and try printing again.
  • If it works without the tray, the output tray may be defective and need replacement.

3. Perform a Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn it on and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
