Hi @charles2024,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer isn't printing, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Basic Checks:
Power and Connections:
- Ensure the printer is plugged in and turned on.
- Check that all cables are securely connected. If it's a wireless printer, make sure it's connected to the Wi-Fi network.
Printer Status:
- Make sure the printer isn’t showing any error messages or warning lights.
- Check the printer’s display panel for any alerts or prompts.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open the printer and look for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper carefully.
Check Ink or Toner Levels:
- Make sure there is enough ink or toner in the cartridges. Replace any low or empty cartridges.
Ensure Printer is Set as Default:
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners in Windows 10/11).
- Right-click on your printer and select "Set as default printer."
Clear Print Queue:
- Sometimes, print jobs can get stuck in the queue. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select “See what's printing.” Cancel any stuck jobs.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Install the drivers and see if this resolves the issue.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter:
- On Windows, you can run the built-in troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, then select Printer and follow the prompts.
Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure the correct paper size and type are selected in the print settings on your computer.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- Sometimes, simply restarting the printer and the computer can resolve connectivity and other issues.
Network Issues (for wireless printers):
- Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
- Try reconnecting the printer to the network. This can usually be done via the printer’s control panel.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
