Continually get a printhead problem error on my printer. Have followed directions to clear it and it doesn't seem to clear. Have removed ink and put it back, still doesn't clear. Any suggestions?

Hi @kari526,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printhead problem errors!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify Printhead Compatibility:

  • Ensure the printhead is compatible with your printer model. Refer to the printer’s user manual for the correct printhead part number.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Sometimes residual ink or debris can cause errors. Clean the printhead using a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • Remove the printhead from the printer, gently clean both the printhead and the contacts with the cloth, and reinstall it.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date as updates often fix bugs or errors in printer software.
  • Check for updates via the printer’s control panel or through HP Support sites.

Reset the Printer:

  • A reset can sometimes clear errors. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then turn it back on.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If cleaning and resetting do not resolve the issue, you might need to replace the printhead as it may be damaged or worn out.

I hope this helps.
