Trying to print a group of pics as a contact sheet from file explorer's picture folder. When selecting the images and hitting print it goes directly to print and prints each pic in full vs going to print preview for selections. How do I set it to go to print preview?

Printing groups of photos - the same photo repeated or a collection -- requires an application or print program (software) that supports the option to gather and print the photos together.

In general, what you do depends on

  • Your printer model and the features available to it -- The printer is not aware of what it is printing beyond what the printer hardware supports (for example, network, color / blk-wht )
  • The Operating System / version running on the device you are using to open, view, configure, and submit the print job
  • The application / software you are using to configure the group of photos to be printed

A photo "Contact sheet" might be defined as a single or group of photos to be printed in thumbprint or similar small size on one sheet of paper.

A standard method that uses Windows "Print Pictures"

Open File Explorer

Go to (navigate to) the folder where the photo files are stored

Right-Click on the photo you want to print,

If you wish to add a photo to your collection, click Control and hold key

Add your next photo

Leave the Control key pressed until you have collected the photo(s) for the print job

Release the Control key (if pressed)

Right-Click

>> Windows 11 > "Show more options"

Print

Select the main options in the top of menu

Scroll down on the right and select a size small enough to show all the photos in your collection

If you wish to print more than a single copy of each photo, enter the number of copies

"Copies of each picture"

Example,

If there are three photos in your collection and you want to print three copies of each photo,

Enter "3" as the "number of copies"

When ready, click to Print
