HP Color Laser 150nw

Hi Hp community.

I am having a printing issue when printing certain pages of a document. I ran a test print and it was fine, I downloaded a colour test, which I downloaded, and it was also perfectly fine.

The document in question is 6 pages.

It prints the first 3 fine the next 3 are not. It's hard to explain but I can't attach an image so here goes, so it prints it correctly but Two-thirds of the way down it seems to start printing the top of the page again as well as the correct text like the correct text is overlaid and the top of the page repeat print is faded and underneath the correct text.

so imagine a page of text and it's all fine. Then take the top third and put that on the bottom third. it also only seem to happen on the left-hand side of the page,

i hope this makes sense.

It seems like a hardware issue as it does the same from a different computer but why it doesn't do it on the first three pages is weird. it seems to happen when there is more text. The second set of three pages are more text-heavy.

the printers not even that old or used that often

any help is greatly appreciated

Hi @Maxstew1987,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP Color Laser 150nw printer is experiencing a specific issue with certain pages of a document, particularly when there is more text. This issue might be related to the memory handling or a software problem rather than a straightforward hardware malfunction. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve printing issues caused by bugs.

Driver Update:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer driver installed. You can download the latest driver from the HP website. Uninstall the current driver, restart your computer, and then install the latest driver.

Print in Smaller Batches:

  • Try printing the document in smaller batches. If the issue only occurs when printing more text-heavy pages, it could be related to the printer’s memory. Printing three pages at a time might help avoid this issue.

Check Document Formatting:

  • Ensure that the document formatting is consistent and not causing issues. Sometimes, complex formatting can confuse the printer. Simplify the formatting if possible.

Test with Different Documents:

  • Try printing other text-heavy documents to see if the issue persists. If other documents print fine, the problem might be with the specific document you’re trying to print.

Printer Memory:

  • If your printer has the option to add more memory, consider upgrading the memory. Low memory might cause issues when handling complex or large documents.

Print from Different Applications:

  • Try printing the document from different applications (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word) to see if the issue is application-specific.

Reprint Problematic Pages:

  • If the first three pages print fine, try printing the problematic pages individually or in pairs to see if the problem is mitigated.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Verify the printer settings on both the printer and your computer. Ensure there are no settings that might be causing the issue, such as scaling, print quality settings, or duplex printing settings.

Perform a Factory Reset:

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, performing a factory reset on your printer might help. This will reset all settings to default and might clear any glitches causing the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
