HP Smart Tank 581 All-in-One Printer

Hello, I have an HP Smart Tank 581 printer and I'm experiencing issues. When I request a print, it pulls a sheet, prints only a portion on it, and then completes the print on another sheet. It usually happens in the first sheet if there are more to be printed, and every time its only 1 shhet. The result is that the print is divided across two pages. Any suggestions on what to do?

Hi @Germanaps,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Paper Size and Type Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size and type settings in your printer's software match the actual paper loaded in the printer.
  • In the print dialog box, confirm that the selected paper size matches the paper in the printer.

Adjust the Page Layout Settings:

  • Check the page layout and margin settings in the document you're printing.
  • Make sure that the document fits within the printable area of the chosen paper size.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

  • Visit the HP support website to check for any available firmware or driver updates for your printer model.
  • Installing the latest updates can sometimes resolve unexpected printing behaviors.

Print a Diagnostic Page:

  • Use the printer’s control panel to print a test page or diagnostic page. This can often provide insights into printer alignment and configuration issues.

Verify Connectivity and Restart Devices:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the computer, whether via USB or network.
  • Turn off the printer and the computer. Unplug and re-plug them before turning them back on.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper feed path. Clear any jams if found.

Consider Printer Settings in Applications:

  • If you're printing from specific software (like Adobe, Word, etc.), check settings specific to that software that might affect how the document is printed.

I hope this helps.
