HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

the printer will print a 5"x7" and 4"x6" photos fine on plain 8.5"x11" plain paper, but on semi-gloss photo paper, it dumps loads of ink on the paper. I received a note from HP support on this issue. I tried everything they suggested. I'm still having the same problem. I have a lot of photos I want to print, but if this problem cannot be fixed, I'm dumping it, even though it does everything else fine.

Hi @RAW44

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e when printing on semi-gloss photo paper. Since you've already tried HP support's suggestions without success, I can offer some general troubleshooting steps that might help.

  • Paper Settings: Make sure that you have selected the correct paper type and size settings in the printer and print driver settings. Using the wrong settings can lead to excessive ink usage.
  • Print Quality Settings: Adjust the print quality settings in the print driver. Lowering the print quality might reduce the amount of ink being used.
  • Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer firmware and drivers are up to date. HP often releases updates that address performance and compatibility issues.
  • Clean Printheads: Run the printhead cleaning utility on your printer. This can help resolve issues with excessive ink output.
  • Use Manufacturer's Paper: If possible, try using the recommended brand and type of semi-gloss photo paper from HP. Using third-party paper may result in unexpected printing behavior.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Make sure there are no conflicts with other printer-related software or drivers on your computer. Sometimes, conflicting software can cause printing issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
