HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

The message came up "This printer is not designed to use continuous ink systems." To resume printing, remove continuous ink system and install original HP (or compatible) cartridges. They are HP cartridges, 962 and 962XL. I don't know what steps I can take to resolve this.

 

As of 05-09-2025, this has also happened with an HP Office Jet Pro 8710. They were using non-brand cartridges. The "Y" cartridge was affected. I could not upgrade the firmware because either the printer wouldn't respond because of the "bad" ink cartridge and it wouldn't respond when the cartridge was missing. I had performed the steps mentioned in another post with no results.

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove the cartridges.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back in.
  6. Wai for few minutes and then insert the cartridges (let printer prompt for cartridges)
  7. Turn on the printer

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
