Product: HP photosmart wireless printer

hi, my printer just got jammed and when i pulled the paper out, it looked like a rubber band had been pulled out aswell from inside the mechanism. As the printer started working again, the rubber band has come all the way out into above the paper feed. Is this part of the internal makeup of the printer and will it cause issues if not mended?
