HP Envy 7858 has been printing perfectly until today: paper is loaded in paper tray but printer doesn't recognize 8.5x11 paper tray is actually full and I get message paper tray is empty and it won't print. I cleaned all the rollers according to HP virtual assistant's instructions. It says to take it in for service but we are in lockdown so it will be a while. Any suggestions? My internet connection has been in and out today, would that make a difference? thanks

Hi @wschuck
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
Internet connection has nothing to do with this issue. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your MAC.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Perform steps 1 and 2 from this document.
Now, try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
You may print a test page from the printer
-
On the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup
icon.
-
Swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
