Hi @Aaron_Fisch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your printer is producing paper with a bent 'divot' and the graphics are coming out corrupt, this typically points to a few possible issues. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:
Check Paper Quality and Type:
- Ensure you are using the correct type of paper recommended for your printer. Using paper that is too thin or thick can cause feeding issues.
- Make sure the paper is properly aligned and loaded into the tray. Paper that is not aligned correctly can cause jams or bending.
Inspect the Paper Path and Rollers:
- Open your printer and inspect the paper path for any obstructions or debris that might be causing the paper to bend.
- Clean the rollers gently with a lint-free cloth and a bit of water or isopropyl alcohol. Dust or debris on the rollers can cause the paper to feed incorrectly.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Even small, partial jams can cause paper to bend as it passes through the printer. Make sure there are no small pieces of paper stuck in the printer.
Printer Settings:
- Verify that the print settings in the programs you are using are set correctly. Ensure the paper size and type match what is loaded in the printer.
- Check the printer settings for the print quality and resolution. High-resolution graphics might require more careful handling by the printer.
Firmware and Driver Updates:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website.
- Update your printer drivers. Go to the HP website, find the support section for your specific printer model, and download the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11.
Graphics and File Issues:
- Try printing from a different program to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with a specific application.
- Ensure the graphic file itself is not corrupt. Open the file in a different viewer or editor to check for any issues.
Print a Test Page:
- Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to see if the issue occurs with internal printer tasks. This can help determine if the problem is with the printer hardware or the files being sent to it.
Printer Maintenance:
- Perform any recommended maintenance tasks listed in your printer’s user manual, such as aligning the print heads or cleaning the printer.
Paper Handling Mechanism:
- Sometimes the internal mechanisms that guide the paper can become misaligned. If you are comfortable doing so, you can try gently adjusting these components, but be cautious as this can be delicate work.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
