@jtenfield, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Problem with the Printer or Print System!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When encountering the message "There is a problem with the printer or print system," it typically indicates an issue with the printer's ink system or other internal components. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this error:

Turn the Printer Off and On:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Wait a few moments and then turn it back on.

Ensure Printer is Level:

  • Use a small round object (like a ball or marble) to check if the printer is level. Place the object on top of the printer near the supply door. If it rolls to the back and left, the printer is probably level. Otherwise, adjust the printer to be level.

Check Ink Supplies via Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open the printer's EWS by typing the printer's IP address into a web browser.
  • Identify any supplies in an error state, remove them, and replace if they feel low or empty.
  • Reinsert any supplies that do not feel low or empty.

Reset the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

@jtenfield, Thanks for getting back to us, and I’m sorry to hear the issue is still unresolved. Let's try a couple more steps to get your printer back up and running:

Update Firmware: Go to the HP support website and check if there's a firmware update for your printer model. Installing it can often fix system errors.

Reinstall Printer Drivers: On your computer, uninstall the current printer software, restart your system, and reinstall the latest drivers from HP official site.

Hope this helps!
