@Tiffeny80, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If you're experiencing printing errors with your HP OfficeJet 8122e All-in-One printer and cannot print from your HP computer, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Restart Devices
Restart your printer, computer, and router to clear any error states.
- Turn Off the Printer: Press the Power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power source.
- Turn Off the Computer: Turn off your HP computer.
- Restart the Router: Restart the router.
- Reconnect the Printer: Reconnect the power cord to the printer and a wall outlet directly.
- Turn On the Computer: Turn on your computer and make sure it is connected to the same network as your printer.
Step 2: Check Printer Connection Status
Ensure that the printer is connected to your device and has a ready status.
- Open the HP Smart app: Make sure you are signed in to your account.
- Check the Printer Status Icon: Verify if the printer shows a green circle icon indicating it is connected and ready to print.
Step 3: Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges
Reinsert the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.
- Open Cartridge Access Door: Turn on the printer, open the door to the cartridge access area.
- Remove and Reinsert Cartridges: Wait until the carriage is idle and silent, remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them until they snap into place.
Step 4: Update Printer Firmware
Regularly update firmware to get the most out of your printer.
- From Printer Control Panel: Touch the Setup icon, go to Printer Maintenance, touch Update Printer, and then Check Now.
- From the HP Smart App: Click the image of your printer from the app home screen, click Advanced Settings, and under Manage, click Printer Updates and Check Now.
- From the HP Website: Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads, download any updates listed under Firmware, and follow the prompts to update the firmware.
Step 5: Create a Printer TCP/IP Port Connection (Windows)
Use your printer IP address to create a TCP/IP port connection.
- Find the Printer IP Address: Use the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel to locate the IP address.
- Open Printers & Scanners: In Windows, search for and open Printers & scanners.
- Add a Printer Manually: Click Add manually or The printer that I want isn't listed. Select Add a printer using an IP address or hostname, click Next, and follow the prompts using the TCP/IP Device option.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
