Vertical line on scanned or printed documents when the original is placed in the document feeder on top of the printer, but not when placed directly on the glass.

There may be a smear, a tiny bit of dirt, or even a scratch on the tiny glass bar used for the ADF.

 

Clean the glass carefully and shine a flashlight at an angle to illuminate any remaining debris or damage.

I cleaned the glass so many times, but using the flashlight on the narrow glass, showed a miniscule spot, cleaned it off carefully, and I now have clean copies!  Thank you
