I ran print & scan doctor and got this message: wrong printer port configured. Further down the page it said "this tool is unable to solve the problem even after a restart."

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting "wrong printer port configured" error, I am glad to assist you.
Follow these steps to fix the issue:-
Have you tried setting your printer using a standard TCP/IP connection?
- Press Windows key + X then go to Control Panel.
- Click View device and printers.
- Click Add a printer.
- On the Add a device window, click The printer that I want isn't listed.
- From the Find a printer by other options selection, choose Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname.
- Select Autodetect for the Device type. Enter the Hostname or IP address of the printer.
- Wait for the program to detect the updated driver or select the printer driver from the list.
If the issue still persists, uninstall and reinstall printer driver to fix the issue.
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
