Laptop has decided not to communicate with my Galaxy A12; it used to do it quite happily.
It will charge through the USB cable through any of the USB ports but will not register for any data.
The phone does not show up anywhere in Device Manager/USB controllers although it used to.
I have tried using a brand new USB cable but no change.
If I plug the phone into my Samsung tablet it works fine, charging and data.
I have tried updating USB drivers but the system says that the best drivers are already installed.
If I plug the phone in, the laptop makes the appropriate noise but no prompt boxes appear and I cannot find it anywhere on the laptop.
Thanks for any assistance.

Also just discovered that the printer has vanished from the laptop and it will not re-install the drivers.
So it looks like I have lost drivers for the USB ports and the printer and cannot reinstall them as they are not being downloaded.
I thought about doing a System Restore but it only goes back as far as the 22nd December.
I can't use my back up hard drive as it connects via USB......
