Hi @John121757,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Two vertical dark lines on both printed copies and scanned documents usually indicate an issue with the scanner glass or the print path, not just the ink or toner. Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Clean the Scanner Glass and ADF Strip

  • Open the scanner lid.
  • Clean the main glass and the thin strip glass (used for ADF scanning) with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner.
  • Remove any dust, ink, or adhesive residue.

Step 2: Check for Debris Inside the Printer

  • Open the printer access door.
  • Inspect for toner dust, paper fragments, or foreign objects along the paper path.
  • Clean gently with a dry lint-free cloth.

Step 3: Print Quality Diagnostic

  • From the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app, run Print Quality Diagnostic Page.
  • If the lines appear here, the issue may be with the drum or toner cartridge.

Step 4: Inspect Toner/Ink Cartridge

  • Remove the cartridge and check for damage or leaks.
  • If you see scratches or marks on the drum surface, replace the cartridge.

Step 5: Update Firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
