HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

When I try to scan a document, HP Scan will get stuck on 'Preparing to Scan', and the printer itself will get stuck partway through the scan, quit scanning, and the printer screen would get stuck on 'Now scanning'.  I followed the steps you guys had, I unplugged/replugged in an outlet, I deleted and added the printer, I even changed out an ink cartridge (color was low anyway).  When I did, I printed out alignment page, but when I went to scan it, it was again stuck on 'Now scanning'.  I then updated the firmware and downloaded HP Easy Start, which took me through all of the steps.  Once I got to the 'Test Page' step, I printed the test page just fine, then clicked on 'Scan Test Page'.  Again, the printer made the scan sound for a few seconds, stopped, and the screen is stuck on 'Now Scanning', with HP Easy Start displaying 'Scanning' with the spinning working wheel.  This is all done over wireless, as it always has been, and there are no actual error messages being displayed.  Is this a problem with the actual scanner itself?

Hi @jpompili23

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that you are unable to Scan on your HP Officejet 4630 and you have already performed several troubleshooting steps.

Are you able to make a Copy directly from the Printer?

I appreciate all the crucial troubleshooting steps attempted and right now it seems to be a Hardware failure with the scanner.

I would request you to contact our Phone Support for Service Options.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.

Thank you.
