We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Scanner headache
Microsoft Windows Vista

Arrogant machine!

  1. I have used comps since 1983 - I know a bit about computers, NOT printers. I can recognize a bad piece of software when it fails.
  2. I had everything turned off. I unplugged everything, power first.
  3. I moved my equipment from one desk to another, leaving cables where they were (they'll reach).
  4. I plugged everything back in, power last.
  5. Booted comp. Turned on printer(be nice if it was!)
  6. Here we go:

Errors galore started up when I attempted to scan a picture.

  1. Errors stated I have to install scanner software (this is on the Printers screen).
  2. I checked the comp and 7310 is still Default.
  3. I tried a couple of other things, like print, and it just left the spool notice by the clock sit there as a reminder that things were failing everywhere with  just the printer.
  4. The alleged troubleshooter took me to the HP site and told told me I had to install the latest Essentials software. I remembered this being a problem when it was installed from a DVD a long time ago. Tech informed me I had to download a better version - which is what I did and things went -OK-. Until now.
  5. So, being cooperative, I downloaded the version HP told me to get, and installed it, and installed it, and installed it and it wouldn't quit - it would show that all software was installed, and 2 minutes later, started installing all over again, and again.  The last one seems to have stuck, except it failed on the scanner software, and hid the fact it also lied with "successful" for all other 9 pieces of extra-ware for when I try to print, it just hangs.
  6. After closing all windows, and walking away, a while later a HP window opened and installation required a file in 'user/appdata/TEMP from the original DVD. You know the DVD, the one the HP rep said was no good so I tossed it out.
It seeems this is needed to augment the 160+ meg file that was supposed to install the "whole solution".

  7. Closing that and a half-dozen other HP windows, it showed that everything was installewd successfully. I have no faith in anything it shows now.

  8. If I try to scan from the Printer with "Scan to" button selecting File, it just says scanning and nothing happens except the mini-screen plays a cartoon - pretending that it is scanning.

  9.  On the printer, pressing the "On" buttron will turn it on, once, because it cannot be turned off. There is no Off button and holding On doesn't do anything so I needed to unplug it - brilliant kiddie-koder planning. Doing that, I then rebooted comp, and then uninstalled everying HP.

  10. I reinstalled after clean boot and was met with another lenghty wait and see, until it errored out again with a scanner failure! Opening "Solution Center[sic] and clicking scan only turned the "Scan Picture AND "Scan Document" grey out - like the same very light shade of grey as in the "important that you read this" stuff at the bttom of most pages.

Ideas?

I have gone through your Post and I would like to help

Are you able to make Photocopies? Please check the Scanner Bar Functionality

  1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.

  2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

Let's start with a Printer Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed

Then uninstall the Printer drivers from Root level and download the Full Feature Software once again

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions
