HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

Scanning using feeder or directly 'on the glass plate' gives a blank scan when operating using the control panel on the printer. Tried several times. I switched the printer/scanner on and off, does not help, disconnected from power for some time, and recvonnect, does not help. Scanning using HP easy scan panel from on computer does work but I do need it to work form the printer control panel. OS = Mac Ventura. installed software on printer is EDWINXPP1N002.226A.00. It migth be that this issue came up when I installed Ventura but not 100% sure.

Can you help me out on this?

Yes I believe it's definitely the upgrade. There have been several threads here mentioning the "I upgraded to MacOS Ventura and now my HP printer just gives me blank pages when I try to use  "scan to pdf" from the touchscreen" problem. There have been given many workarounds in different threads, but the one that worked for me to get back to only using the touchscreen was: First open HP Easy Scan (even though eventually you won't need it, you'll only need the touchscreen), open Preferences in the drop-down under HP Easy Scan, click on Scan to Computer, click on Scan to PDF, click on Edit, change Output type to PDF-Searchable, click Save. Then close HP Easy Scan. After I did this I was able to only use the touchscreen again and no longer just got blank pages when using Scan to PDF or Email to PDF. Hope this helps.

Hi Mc0111, thanks. Sorry for replying just now, I was on a trip. The solution you proposed seemed to work but now I have a message on the touch screen. The touch screen shows blue and it says 'B82F6174' in the middle of it. That is it. The only way I can clear it is to shut down the printer an start it again. Then the regular screen comes up but after a while the same message shows and it starts all over. Any idea what this could be?

No idea what that is sorry! The only other thing I did is change my HP ENVY 5660 to Apple AirPrint. Not sure if that will make the difference.

Hi, this is part of the solution but unfortunately not all solved. After applying these settings, when scanning multiple pages  (double sided), the first page is scanned properly but the following pages are still blank. Do you have any advise on how to solve this? Thanks!

Mine does have all pages scanning correctly on multiple-page documents, but I don't do double-sided as I can only do 1 page at a time on the HP ENVY 5660 scanning screen. And forgot to mention --  when doing the set-up from HP Easy Scan, after getting to the page where you click on "Edit", on the next page make sure to hit "Show Details". On that page there will be a box next to "Save all items to a single file" -- make sure that box is checked. Hopefully this helps. Also don't know if having it set up to use Apple AirPrint is necessary or not, but I changed to that.

Also this page does now reference MacOS 13 when looking to update drivers: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers
