8600 scanner no longer displaying request for additional pages to be scanned

Try these steps:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off your HP OfficeJet 8600 printer.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds and turn it back on.
  • Sometimes, a reboot can resolve temporary issues.

Update Scanner Software and Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers and software for your HP OfficeJet 8600.
  • You can download the latest version from the HP OfficeJet 8600 drivers page.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Open the scanning application on your computer (HP Scan, HP Smart, etc.).
  • Go to the scan settings and ensure that the option for scanning multiple pages is enabled.

Use the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):

  • If you are scanning multiple pages, make sure you are using the ADF correctly.
  • Load the documents into the ADF and ensure it is properly aligned.
  • Check if the scanner prompts for additional pages when scanning through ADF rather than the flatbed.

Clear Any Pending Jobs:

  • Sometimes, pending scan jobs can interfere with new requests.
  • Ensure there are no pending or stuck scan jobs in the printer's queue.

Software Settings for Multiple Pages:

  • When scanning, use the software settings to specify multi-page scanning.
  • For example, in HP Scan:
    • Select Scan.
    • Under File type, choose PDF or another format that supports multiple pages.
    • Ensure Prompt for additional pages is selected.

Reinstall Scanner Software:

  • Uninstall the current scanner software.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Reinstall the scanner software from the HP website.
