Hi @jb_bush,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Use HP Smart App

Open HP Smart App: Make sure you have the HP Smart App installed on your computer or mobile device. Download it from the HP website or app store if you haven't installed it yet.

Add Printer: Ensure your HP OfficeJet 9120e is added to the HP Smart App and is connected to your network.

Initiate Scanning:

  • Open the HP Smart App and select "Scan" on the home screen.
  • Choose the document source (Scanner bed or document feeder if available).

Select PDF as Output:

  • Before you start scanning, make sure your file type is set to PDF.
  • Check for an option that says "Document" and select PDF from the drop-down menu.

Load Documents: Place all the pages you want to scan into the document feeder or scanner bed. Make sure they are aligned properly and are facing the right direction.

Scan Pages:

  • Start the scan process by clicking on "Scan".
  • As each page is scanned, it should automatically append to the previous pages in the same PDF document.

Save the Document:

  • Once all pages are scanned, click on “Save”.
  • Choose the location where you want to save your PDF file.

Using HP Scan Software (Windows)

Open HP Scan Software: If you're on a Windows computer, you may have the HP Scan software installed. Open it from your Start menu.

Set File Type: Select "PDF" as a file type from the scan settings.

Scan Multiple Pages:

  • Place pages onto the scanner.
  • Use the "Batch" or "Automatic Feeder" option to scan multiple pages.

Save as Single PDF:

  • After scanning, choose to “Save” all pages into a single PDF file.

Using Built-in Scan to Email (Direct from Printer)

Some printers allow scanning directly to an email which automatically sends a single PDF:

Access the Printer Touchscreen: Navigate to the scan settings on your printer’s display.

Scan to Email: Select the option to scan to email. Configure settings to ensure a single PDF document output.

Proceed with Scanning: Follow on-screen instructions to scan your documents directly to an email, where they’ll be combined into one PDF.

I hope this helps.
