I just installed an ADF Maintenance Kit (Q5997A) in my 9250C digital sender, trying to resolve poor paper pickup and handling.
I noticed that there is a black foam tapered pad just in front of the separation pad.
The black foam pad looks to be in poor condition - it is worn down and is leaving black flake particles all over the input path.
I would like to replace it, but I don't see it listed as a user replaceable part (not that it matters), but w/o the part number I can't search for availability.
It appears to be self adhesive - just pull the old one off and stick the new one in its place.
Hoping that someone understands what I have described and can point me in the right direction.
If I can't get a replacement, can I remove it and leave it off - or will that affect the paper feeding ability. The taper of the pad seems to indicate that it is guiding paper to the separation pad directly behind it.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Unless it is part of a sub-assembly, it is not listed in the service manual. You can usually find sites that have the service manuals posted if you want to look for yourself.
