Hi @Ami12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding copy size issues on HP printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check the Copy Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size settings are correctly set to A4 on the printer's control panel. Sometimes, the default might be set to LTR, which can cause the issue you're experiencing.

Adjust Scanner Settings:

  • On the display screen, when you press the Copy option, make sure to navigate to the Advanced tab > Original Size and select A4. This ensures that the scanner and copier settings match the document size you are working with.

Use the Original Size Option:

  • Within the copy settings, select Original Size to ensure the scanner understands the dimensions of the document you wish to copy. You can choose A4 from the list of available sizes.

Ensure Proper Document Placement:

  • Place your documents face up in the document feeder tray or a single document face down on the scanner glass. Align the document to the A4 marks on the scanner to ensure that the entire document is recognized.
  • Adjust the paper guides to align with the edges of the document.

Check Printer Software:

  • Sometimes, software or firmware issues can affect copying. Make sure that your printer software is up-to-date by visiting the HP Support website and downloading any available updates for your specific printer model.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • As a troubleshooting step, reset the printer to its default settings, which may solve any configuration errors causing the issue.

Test with Different Document:

  • Try copying different documents to see if the problem is document-specific or if it's a consistent issue with the printer settings.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi

I think you haven't knowledge about ink tank 319 printer. Display not in this printer.

And in hp driver and software also copy option not available.

And one thing as I mentioned print and scanning are ok.

So your reply is irrelevant.

My problem:-

Issues only in copying, any manual setting to change copy setting Letter to A4, then plz guide

Hi @Ami12,

Thank you for your reply, and I truly appreciate your patience.

You're absolutely right, the HP Ink Tank 319 does not come with a display screen, and the copy settings are indeed limited due to the basic control panel. Since printing and scanning are working perfectly, the issue seems isolated to the copy function defaulting to LTR (Letter) size instead of A4.

Here’s what you can try to manually address this:

Check the Paper Size Loaded:

Ensure A4-size paper is correctly loaded in the paper tray.

Slide the paper width guides to fit snugly against the edges of the paper without bending it.

Manual Copy Size Adjustment:

Since there's no display screen, copy settings cannot be changed via the printer.

However, by default, the printer assumes LTR unless A4 paper is detected properly by the paper sensor. If misaligned, it will only copy up to LTR dimensions.

Please ensure the document on the scanner glass is aligned with the A4 marks (not just centered or aligned randomly).

Try This Workaround:

Place the A4 document face down on the scanner glass, aligned exactly with the top-left corner and the A4 boundary markings.

Press the Black or Color copy button once.

If it still cuts off, try double-pressing the copy button (this can sometimes trigger a full-size copy).

Reset the Printer:

With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug it back in and try copying again. This clears any temporary glitches in the copy memory.

I hope this helps.

Hi Sir @Kuroi_Kenshi

Sorry to say, didn't work.Still issues

Hi @Ami12,

Thanks for trying those steps and for staying in touch.

Just to clarify, have you recently relocated to a different country or region?

Sometimes, the default paper size (like LTR vs A4) is determined by the region settings embedded in the printer's firmware, which may not update automatically after a move.

Knowing this can help us guide you better with the right region reset or configuration steps.

Meanwhile, try these:

Load A4 Properly for Auto-Detect

Make sure the paper tray guides are adjusted exactly to A4 width.

Use only clean, standard A4 sheets (not curled or dusty).

Place the document face down on the scanner glass, aligned exactly to the top-left A4 corner.

Tap the Black or Color copy button only once.

This helps the printer sensors recognize the correct scan/copy area.

Try Copying from HP Smart App Instead

Even though direct copy from the printer is limited, here's a workaround:

Use HP Smart on your PC or mobile

Use the “Scan to Computer” or “Copy” option

Print the scanned A4 document, this acts like a digital copy.

HP Smart gives you more size and layout options than the printer's onboard buttons.

I hope this helps.

Thnx again @Kuroi_Kenshi

I'm from India.

Secondly In  HP Smart App, only print & Scan Option Show not copy option if show copy option then it's may be useful but sorry. Scanning and Printing no issue, their is no option in  any software for copying- so I faced this.

And one more thing in mobile hp smart app not searched our usb printer, only searching wireless printer.

And one think may be HP didn't remembered this model anyway because their firmware software not updated since a long time..

I'm doing all your tips but didn't work

Any more resolution if,then plz

Hi @Ami12,

Thank you again for your continued patience and detailed responses, it truly helps narrow down the root of the issue. I completely understand how frustrating this can be, especially when both scanning and printing work perfectly, but copying doesn't behave as expected.

You're right, the HP Ink Tank 319 is a basic USB-only printer with no display and no wireless capabilities, and copy settings are limited to the hardware buttons. Also, the HP Smart App does not fully support USB-only models for copy functions, which explains why you’re not seeing that option there.

You are trying to copy an A4 document, but the printer only copies up to LTR (Letter) size, cutting off the bottom part of the document.

Scanning and printing are working perfectly.

No copy settings are available through HP software or the printer itself.

The region is India (where A4 should be the default size).

Here's What You Can Still Try

Clean the Scanner Glass & Re-align Document

Use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe the scanner glass.

Re-align the A4 paper exactly to the top-left A4 mark.

Ensure no part of the document crosses over into the LTR marks.

Alternative Workaround (Digital Copy Method)

Since you're able to scan:

Open HP Scan (via HP Smart or Windows Scan).

Scan the A4 document → Save as PDF or image.

Open the file and print it again (acts as a full A4 copy).

It's a 2-step process but ensures that the full page is retained and avoids the issue you're facing.

I hope this helps.

 @Kuroi_Kenshi Sir

Look at the image, all ok

Your solution didn't work, any more method to do correct.

Ya digital copying is ok but it take more time, scan then print ....

The moval part (lightning) not move upto A4 Marks, move Only at LTR marks while copying

Is a chances of any internal hardware issues, but scanning is perfect.

And plz reply if you have  a exact solution of this by meeting to your senior regarding this.
