When I enter paper to be scanned, the scanner works, but it assumes it's being fed from the glass and not the ADF. There is nothing on the smartscreen, which would allow me to adjust or select ADF. The options are very limited with this printer. Please help as for the money that I paid, I should not have this issue. Also, there are no options under Scanner, Fax, etc.

I understand the document feeder is not working. Try making a standalone copy from the ADF and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
To assist you better, which device are you trying to scan from?
Which app are you using?
Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Automatic document feeder does not pick paper or feeds too many sheets
