When attempting to use the ADF I keep getting a "document jammed" message on both my screen and my printer screen. The page will feed about 3/4 of the way and then the error message occurs, meaning I have to unjam the document. I have tried both a hard reset of the printer and cleaning the ADF as advised through HP FAQ however, still no joy. I can assure you, nothing is jammed in the ADF before attempting to use.
Please help, because trying to scan multiple student workbooks using the glass scanner is not fun!

Hi @KGreco,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already taken some good troubleshooting steps, but since you're still experiencing issues with the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) on your HP OfficeJet 8012e printer, here are some additional steps you can try.
- Check Document Condition: Ensure that the documents you're trying to feed into the ADF are in good condition, without any folds, creases, or tears that might cause the paper to jam.
- Paper Quality and Type: Make sure you're using the correct type and size of paper for the ADF. Using paper that is too thick or too thin, as well as using damaged or wrinkled paper, can cause feeding problems.
- Document Stack: Ensure that you're not overloading the ADF with too many sheets of paper. The ADF's capacity is limited, so make sure you're within its specified sheet count limit.
- Clean the ADF Rollers: Sometimes dust, dirt, or residue can accumulate on the ADF rollers, causing feeding issues. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Make sure to turn off the printer before cleaning.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can improve the functionality and performance of the printer, including the ADF.
- Software Issues: Sometimes, the issue might be related to the software or driver settings. Check if there are any updates for your printer's drivers and software. You can also try reinstalling the printer software on your computer.
- Physical Inspection: Despite your assurance, do perform a thorough physical inspection of the ADF area again to make sure there's no debris or foreign objects causing the problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you - I have tried all the suggested above and unfortunately the ADF still only feeds 3/4 of the page before basically giving up - then my printer and screen display the 'document feeder jam' message. I have always used the same paper and I always ensure there are not rips, folds or staples present that could interfere with the feeding. One day it worked great, the next day - nope! I fear I am going to have to scan individual pages one by one using the glass scanner! 😒
