Hi @Judropp,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're facing with the HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer app closing during scanning could be caused by a few factors. Here are some common causes and solutions to try.

App Glitches or Crashes:

  • Ensure the App is Updated: Check for any updates to the HP Smart app or whichever scanning software you are using. Outdated apps can sometimes cause crashes.
  • Restart the App: Close the app completely and relaunch it to refresh its processes.
  • Reinstall the App: If the problem persists, uninstall and then reinstall the app to remove any corrupted files.

Connection Issues:

  • Check Wi-Fi Connectivity: If you're scanning over Wi-Fi, intermittent network connection drops can interrupt the scanning process.
  • Switch to USB Scanning: Try scanning via USB if Wi-Fi instability seems to be the issue.

Memory Overload:

  • Break the Scanning into Smaller Batches: Scanning a large number of pages can sometimes overload the memory in the app or the printer. Try scanning smaller batches and combining them later.
  • Clear App Cache: If using a mobile app, clear the cache to ensure there is enough memory for the scanning process.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve scanning or app-related issues. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.

Save Progress Regularly:

  • Save as You Go: When scanning multiple pages into one document, save the document periodically instead of waiting until all pages are scanned.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
