Printer was flakey on LAN using the regular installation port. When we changed it to an ip address the printer has worked flawlessly. The problem, however, is that the scanner does not seem accessable via an ip address - it is only available through the HP printer on the WSD port.
Is there a way to change the scanner to a standard TCP/IP port?

I literally stumbled upon this idea when pulling the port information for the HP-installed port. I changed it to the Standard TCP/IP I had set up manually for the printer (using Add a Printer in Devices and Printers).
So far so good with the original HP printer installation now pointing at the TCP/IP port it also appears to take the scanner with it.
Your method was more elegant. Thank you.
