Hi,

Just setup my printer and testing it out. With sheets in the ASF (I got the little ding and icon showing it recognizes something is loaded) I tried scanning to computer and scanning to a network share.

Scan to Network share works fine. The pages cycle thru the ASF and I get all pages scanned.

Scan to computer does not feed the documents and instead it scans the empty glass.

This can't be a feature right?

Update: From the HP smart app it works fine. It is just if I select Scan to Computer from the printer itself!

Thanks!

In my opinion:  Should not be a "feature".

Two printers in this series:

IF the device to which you refer is the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), then...

In general, both printers (Pro and "not Pro") likely work the same way (for ADF).

In general, the printer can sense when the ADF is loaded.

There are some restrictions for the ADF - paper type and paper size, for example.

Explained in vague terms in the Specs for the Officejet 9010

Specifications - Officejet 9010

More clearly defined in the Datasheet for the Officejet Pro 9010 series

What to do?

Read the How-to documentation to make sure there is not just something "weird" in your setup

and

Consider - EWS > Webscan

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to configure and manage your printer.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

  1. Webscan may not be enabled in the EWS - check / enable the setting
  2. Set and run Webscan

Examples

Enable Webscan in EWSSettings > Security > Administrative Settings

EWS_9025_Settings_Security_Administrator_WebscanEWS_9025_Settings_Security_Administrator_Webscan

Set the parameters for Webscan

EWS > tab Scan > Scan to Computer > Webscan > Select / Adjust settings and scan

Scan, when complete, is saved to your computer.

Note the message regarding paper size at the bottom of the WebScan menu.
