8610 All in One Printer --[edited]
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I have read the issue and fix for the black line showing up when using the ADF to scan or copy on my printer.  I've cleaned the scanner window, the white strip on the lid and the rollers.  I'm still having the issue.  I've looked and looked and don't see any dirt or dust on the window.  Any other ideas of what my next option is?

Thanks

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

As I understand there's a black line with using ADF on your printer,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you attempted to clean the scanner?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

  • Open the flatbed lid, and look at the extreme side edge, depending on the printer, its usually the left edge, but it's where the paper feeds down.
  • You should see a tiny glass slit running the width of the flat glass.
  • Look inside this slit for some pieces of paper/dirt/something that lines up where the black lines are forming.
  • Use a blower, a can of compressed air, or a fine brush to gently remove anything found.
  • When you use the Document Feeder, the scanner actually parks itself below this tiny slit of a window and scans the paper as it feeds by.

Good Evening,

I've tried everything.  I've cleaned the scanner window and the rollers following the instructions I found on the HP troubleshooting site.

I took a brush and brushed the window.  Still have the line coming.  I've shown a flashlight on the window and neither myself nor my husband can see anything there?

What's my next step or option?

Thank you.

Thank you, I guess I'll need to decide if a 4 year old printer is worth sending out to be serviced.  I do appreciate your time and patience.
