Bypass HP Smart app to scan many photos to computer

I have many (probably 1000+) photos that I want to scan to my pc.  It's taking forever because it runs the HP Smart app to allow for editing of pics.  Is there a way to bypass this app to scan the photos faster.  I can edit them later as needed.

What model printer are you using?

Use the HP Scan Extended app to scan and check if that helps.

Click here to download the app. 

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended".

Alternatively, you may use the full-featured printer software to print and scan from your PC.

I'm using an HP Envy Photo 7855.   This worked great!  Much, much improved the speed.  Thank you.

Last week you helped me solve my problem with scanning numerous photos by using HP Scan instead of HP Smart.  It worked great.  Yesterday I tried to scan more photos.  When I try to run the HP Scan app it tells me that communication cannot be established with my computer yet the HP Smart program works/communicates just fine.  Any suggestions as to what might be causing this issue?
