Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I always print in B&W so never replace the color cartridge (it would just be a waste of money).  Printing doesn't seem to be a problem but, if I try to scan a page for saving the image to my computer, I'm prompted to install a color cartridge.  That doesn't make sense so I'm just curious if that's really how the product was designed to work.  (I believe I have the latest driver installed)

Hi,

You should likely be able to scan using the computer software, but not from the printer front panel button.

Could you please let me know what exact steps are taken to scan and what exact error message is shown?

Thanks for that response!  I have been trying to scan from the printer (since it includes a nice button that says "Start Scan."  When I hit the button, the screen lights up with "Insert Tri-Color Cartridge into slot on left."  Below that, it says "Refer to Printer documentation."

I will try to figure out how to use the "computer software."  Again, thanks!

Thanks, again!  I was able to find a Microsoft App that I placed on my desktop and it worked perfectly.  I'm still surprised the "Start Scan" button didn't do anything.
