Welcome to HP Support Community, @KablammoNick
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you cannot find the Scan tab in the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) to set up scan destinations, it may be due to missing software, limited device functionality, or access restrictions. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
1. Ensure Correct Access
- Verify that you have administrative access to the HP EWS.
- If a password is set for administrative settings, make sure you use it to gain full access.
2. Access the EWS
- From the printer’s control panel, locate the network icon to find the printer’s IP address.
- Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network.
- Enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar to access the EWS.
3. Look for Scan-Related Tabs
- Navigate through available tabs such as General, Settings, or Functions, as scan options may appear under different names.
- Check under categories like Digital Send or Functionality if available.
4. Check Device Configuration
- Ensure the device is configured to support scanning.
- Install any necessary drivers or software packages specific to your printer model.
- Confirm that scanning features are not disabled due to security settings.
5. Update Firmware and Software
- Ensure the printer’s firmware is up-to-date.
- Firmware updates can fix bugs and enable additional features, including scan functionality
6. Consult the Device Manual
- Review the user manual for your specific printer model.
- Follow any model-specific instructions for enabling or accessing scanning features.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
