@HCLC, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're facing trouble reconnecting internal cables after clearing a paper jam on your HP Smart Tank Plus 651 Wireless All-in-One. Since the printer powers on but only feeds paper without printing, it's likely that one or more internal ribbon or flex cables especially those connected to the printhead carriage, were not reattached correctly.
Here’s how you can resolve this:
Important Safety First
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Avoid touching ink nozzles or electrical contacts directly.
Open the Cartridge Access Area
- Lift the top cover to access the printhead carriage.
- You should see flat ribbon cables leading to the carriage and possibly sensor cables near the paper feed mechanism.
Identify Cable Connectors
- Look for:
- Wide ribbon cable: connects to the printhead carriage.
- Smaller flex cables: may connect to sensors or control board.
- Each connector is keyed-meaning it only fits one way. Do not force any cable.
Reconnect Cables
- Gently insert each cable into its respective socket until it’s snug.
- If the connector has a latch, ensure it’s flipped up before inserting the cable and then locked down after.
Check for Loose Paper or Obstructions
- Ensure no paper fragments or debris remain inside the printer.
- Slide the carriage left and right gently to confirm smooth movement.
Close the Cover and Power On
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try printing a test page from the HP Smart App or printer control panel.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
