Can I auto duplex fax from the ADF using a M477fdw?

I called HP support asking this question, and after an hour on the phone with them, the answer from second level support was that ALL laserjet pro printers with the dwf designation can auto duplex fax using the ADF using a configuration option. After searching different models here I only found one answer. It stated that "if the user sees this option" when sending a fax, then it's available. They went on to say that some receiving machines might get confused by an incoming fax sent as a duplex fax. I'm sorry, but a fax is a fax. The receiving machine won't be able to distinguish simplex vs duplex. HP has had this feature on various printers for years. I'm sorry, but I would not purchase a printer just to take it home and see if it's available. 

So, is this model capable of auto duplex facing using the ADF?

As an older, discontinued model, it is possible the agent you spoke with may never had access to a 477. I do not have one in front of me right now, but can check on Monday and post back for you, if no one else has answered your question before then.

I checked an M477FDW we have in the shop and I see no option to duplex from ADF when sending a fax, which means the only method to do this would be to used the flat bed and manually flip them. On Enterprise models such as the E47528 which uses the FutureSmart5 firmware does offer that function.

Thanks for your response. So if I understand correctly, a FDW printer with FutureSmart5 firmware is capable of sending duplex faxes from the ADF, or just some of them?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anyone at HP who can give me a list of monochrome FDW laser printers which can duplex fax from the ADF. Do you, by chance know of such a list?

Just to update what I just discovered during a new printer install. The M479 series products do support duplex faxing. This is an upgrade from the M477 products that they replaced.
