The "phone" mentioned in the user manual is a landline phone extension.

If you wish to fax from your mobile phone, you may do so using HP Mobile Fax

The Mobile Fax app has been in Trial mode for years -- as long as that remains the case, use of the app is free of charge.

Access Mobile Fax in the HP Smart application.
