Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. I recently purchased a Hp Chromebook.  I installed the Hp Smart App from the Play store.  I signed into my account but all I get is a circle and the screen saying Thank you for your patience.   It never seems to open the Hp Smart App.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that you are unable to open HP smart app, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried uninstalling the Smart app and reinstalling it from the Google play store?
  • Are you able to print from other devices? 

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue: 

  1. On the Chromebook, click the clock in the bottom right corner, and then click the Settings icon .

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and then click Advanced.

  3. Under Printing, click Printers > Add Printer.

    • If your printer displays, select it, and then click Add.

    • If your printer does not display, click Add Manually, and then follow the instructions. For more information, go to Chromebook Help - Set up your printer (in English).
