Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have multiple OfficeJet Pro MFPs at our employees' home offices. I have an 8630 and my colleague has an 8710. Both of us are running Windows 10 Pro x64 and we both have the same problem. We are able to initiate scans from our computers using the HP Smart or HP Scan and Capture utilities. But we can't start a scan job from the printer itself. Our computers don't appear under the Scan > Computers list and we can't figure out how to add them. We tried installing the full software package for the 8710 -- that didn't work. We ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor -- it passed the tests. What else can we try?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

 

Installing the FULL feature software is a right step.

 

Open the HP Printer Assistant on the desktop (or go to Start > HP > HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 series)

 

Select Scan and then  "Manage Scan to Computer"

Make sure it is "Enabled"
