I am trying to add a network location on my Synology NAS for scans and PDFs to land on. I am using the wizzard, and it can see my folder. I have added a user for the printer to connect with. When I get to the test spot I get one of two error messages.

1) user or password is incorrect. They are not. I just made them and there is nothing wrong with them. However, when I leave the password blank I get...

2)cannot connect to the folder. I tried different names and locations. I have even tried to share a folder on this computer and I still get either bad password or bad location.

How do you add a network location to the printer WITHOUT ALL THE HASSLE OF THIS WIZARD THAT DOESN'T WORK?

It one point it time I got one folder to work correctly and have tried to copy how that one is set up but still no connection.

All the locations I have put folder to try to connect appear in the wizard to select, it just doesn't like when I click next and fails.

VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

@xjonx, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Kindly refer to this document to know how to setup 'scan to network folder'. (applies to officejet printers)

For a better understanding, you may watch this video.

Also, obtain the IP address of the printer and enter it on a web browser.

  1. Navigate to "Printer Home Page (EWS)" in the "Printer" menu.
  2. Go to the "Networking" tab, and then select "Network Identification" from the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
  3. In the "DNS" section of the page, set the Primary (IPv4) address to 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary (IPv4) address to 8.8.4.4 (of course, this presumes your using IPv4 - I wouldn't know what to tell you for IPv6).

Now, try to scan.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
